Lovick's Cafe sponsors Neuse News Athlete of the Week

Lovick’s Cafe has teamed up with Neuse News to become the inaugural sponsor for the Athletes of the Week for the remainder of the year.
The Athlete of the Week segment was created during the fall season recognizing one high school player of each gender. The recipients are chosen after the Neuse News sports team comes to an agreement following each week’s games. All schools in Lenoir County — along with Ayden-Grifton, Greene Central and Jones Senior — are eligible to become the Lovick’s Cafe Athlete of the Week and no player will be given the title twice in the same sport.
Owner Steve Lovick said the company has been more than happy to be a staple in the community and honor student-athletes in the process.
“It doesn’t matter which school is being represented locally, we’re glad to do what we can,” Lovick said. “I really love sports and I think the kids do a phenomenal job balancing both athletics and academics. You have to appreciate them for knowing what it takes to get to the next level — working hard on the court and the classroom.”
The first two Lovick’s Cafe Athletes of the Week are Shy Thompson from Arendell Parrott and Greene Central’s Madison Holloman.
