Hosted by Greene Central, the Southeast regional HOSA Leadership Conference was held at the Greene County Wellness Center on October 19. The SE regional consists of nine counties. This conference was to offer opportunities to develop leadership skills as well as hear from candidates vying for leadership positions. Only ten delegates from each chapter, with three voting delegates, could attend the event.
Bright and early Tuesday morning, Mrs. Lewis’s yearbook class and Mrs. Scott’s career management class were visited by the Neuse News team to speak to students about career opportunities in business and journalism.
Last week our kids were recognized at our Southeast Region Rally event held at UMO for their achievements this past year along with a few regional contests in Agriculture Mechanics and Creed Speaking.
As part of the nationwide program, 17 students from Greene Central High were chosen to participate in the annual America Celebrates ornament program.
Greene Central High School student has earned academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Programs. These National Recognition Programs grant underrepresented students with academic honors that can be included on college and scholarship applications and connect students with universities across the country, helping them meaningfully connect to colleges and stand out during the admissions process.
Greene Central hosts the annual baseball camp. This camp is put on through Greene County Parks and Recreation Department and Greene Central has hosted this camp for over 40 years. This four-day camp is open for kids aged 5-13 and it covers the fundamentals of baseball. Hitting, throwing, catching, baserunning, and position play were all covered during this camp.
Greene Central’s Sidney Ramsey has been accepted into the Governor's School. Ramsey will go to Governor's School East, which is located at Meredith College. Governor's School is a 4-week summer residential program to prepare students for college. This program is for gifted and talented rising seniors.
Daniel Dennie, aged 16, middle linebacker, and upcoming senior at Greene Central will be going to James Stadium, home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, to play in an All-American Bowl. The Bowl will be in January 2022.
Greene Central’s Madalyn Radford and Perry Tingen have been selected as NC Farm Bureau “Heart of a Champion”.

A threat noticed yesterday on an “Out of Order” sign in a Greene Central High School bathroom is leading to more police presence today on campus.
Kinston High School traveled to Snow Hill to play sports rival Greene Central on Tuesday evening. UNC head basketball coach Roy Williams was in attendance to watch Kinston standout Dontrez Styles play. The Vikings defeated the Rams 67-47.
