Greene Central to increase law enforcement on campus today
Statement posted to Facebook yesterday by Greene Central High School Principal Patrick Greene:
“At Greene Central High School, our primary focus is providing our students and staff with a safe learning environment. As your principal, I also want to let you know that I am committed to open communication between the school and the community. Because of that commitment, I want to let you know that we were made aware of a threat against the school that will allegedly occur tomorrow. This threat was written on an “Out of Order” sign in a bathroom. Students quickly notified the School Resource Officer. Law enforcement was immediately involved and, after a thorough investigation, we do not believe the threat to be credible. Nevertheless, we will have an increased presence of law enforcement on campus tomorrow.
“We thank our students, staff and the community for helping us identify possible threats as students did in this situation. We appreciate our relationship with the school community as we all work together to ensure a safe learning environment. Please feel free to contact me with questions or concerns at 252-747-3425.”
