Farmer's Market update: National Honey Bee Day

Tomorrow is National Honey Bee Day at the Market!
Bring yourself and your children. There will be a special event planned for the children, so be sure yours are there to participate.
This is what is ripe and ready this week:
New this week - bronze grapes and peanuts! Still available - honey dew melon, local eggplant, delicious corn, shelled speckled and green butter beans, peas, string beans, heirloom tomatoes (hopefully), bell peppers, squash, zucchini, cucumbers, onions, different kinds of greens, vine-ripened tomatoes, okra, watermelon, and cantaloupe, jams, dressings, pickled items and of course, free range eggs(at Porter's Farm this week), local honey, pork skins and rinds, soaps and assorted craft items.
This list depends on the ability of the farmers to get into their fields to pick this produce. All the rain we have gotten has made it difficult, but you can rest assured that if they can reach it, they will pick it and bring it to market!
Upcoming events at the Farmer's Market
Sunday, October 14 - Wings Over the Neuse pick up station at the market
October 18-21 - Food, Brew and Que
Saturday, November 17 - Vivian Howard cooks and serves Thanksgiving sides
Local artists are invited to exhibit at no charge, as well. Artists and crafters contact Pat Jenkins at plj@suddenlink.net
