Game to watch
Oct. 12 vs. West Craven
The Rams were primed to upset the Eagles last season and had a 22-10 advantage in the second quarter, but ultimately fell 37-30 due to a ridiculous 348 yards rushing from Jonquez Green. With the rematch in Snow Hill, Greene Central will look to exact some revenge against the 2017 ECC champions.
Players to watch
B.J. Corbitt, QB
The junior will take reins under center after Jackson Batchelor’s graduation. Corbitt didn’t play varsity football last season, but he will look to be a dual threat at quarterback and try to give the Rams a dimension unseen since the days of Tre Wade.
A.J. Dupree, RB/DB
There’s a reason why Dupree received an ECC coach’s vote on both sides of the ball. The senior had 232 yards rushing on an 8.6 yard per carry clip and two touchdowns as the third-string running back, but did most of his damage on defense with 66 tackles and four interceptions.
Brandon Gilbert, WR/LB
Gilbert made the most of his limited time defensively, racking up 30 tackles in six games with three for a loss. The senior will look to make an impact as linebacker while also filling a need at wide receiver. Look for good things from Gilbert.
