Reece Gardner: The congressional kangaroo court
I hardly know where to begin. There is so much going on, such as the newest developments in the Trump/Russia saga. Even the New York Times weighed in on this story in their edition this past Thursday with the revelation that U.S. Attorney John Durham's probe into this matter has now shifted into a criminal inquiry.
This is a major development which will enable Durham to subpoena witnesses and documents and to impanel a grand jury. This follows revelations that Attorney General William Barr and Durham had recently traveled twice to London and Rome to meet with intelligence officials there. The news is also out that Durham is interested in questioning, among others, both former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and former CIA Director John Brennan.
What is happening here is that the truth about that three-year plot to destroy Donald Trump's candidacy and then his Presidency is finally coming out. Also, Inspector General Michael Horowitz of the Justice Department has just announced that his long-awaited report on FISA abuse is soon to be released. I believe that we are on the verge of witnessing the "outing" and dismantling of the most extensive effort ever conducted by a group of "insiders" to conduct a Coup to overthrow the duly elected President of the United States by any means necessary.
In spite of all these 24/7 anti-Trump efforts, the President continues to move forward with dramatic advancements in our dealings with such former adversaries as China, Turkey, and others, and his announcement this past Sunday morning about the death of ISIS Leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, in which he said, "Last night the United States brought the world's number one terrorist to justice, with no U.S. personnel being lost in the operation."
Still, a small group of Congressional activist continues to meet behind closed doors in the basement of the U.S. House, conducting an "Impeachment" inquiry against President Trump, which by any reasonable definition is not actually an "Impeachment" inquiry, but rather a kangaroo court, having selective people appear before them in secrecy and then leaking their testimony "selectively." Folks, all this should really have nothing to do with partisan politics, but everything to do with standing up as one for our great country.
Allen McIntosh's profound words of a few years ago still ring true today:
"I'm tired of being called the ugly American. I'm tired of seeing my country used as a whipping boy 365 days a year by the world's panhandlers who yank Uncle Sam's beard every time the flow of gold falters. I'm tired of seeing American embassies and information centers stoned and burned by mobs acting under direct orders from dictators who preach peace but breed conflict. I am an American who thanks to a merciful Lord that he was so lucky to be born an American citizen, a nation under God with justice and mercy for all.” AMEN!
Now for a little humor: After giving an elderly couple their annual checkup, the doctor tells them that they are fine, but that they might want to start writing things down since their memory power was declining. A few days later while watching TV the old man got up from his chair, and his wife asked, "Where are you going?"
He replied, "To the kitchen."
She asks, "Will you get me a bowl of ice cream?"
He replied, "Sure."
She then asks him, "Don't you think you should write it down so you will remember it?"
He says, "No, I can remember that."
She then says, "I also would like some strawberries on top, and you had better write that down."
He says, "I can remember that you want a bowl of ice cream with strawberries."
She replies, "I would also like whipped cream on top. I know you will forget that, so you'd better write it down."
With irritation in his voice, he says, "I don't need to write that down, I can remember it." He then fumes into the kitchen. After about 20 minutes he returns from the kitchen and hands her a plate of bacon and eggs.
"You see," his wife yells at him, "You forgot the onions!"
Have a GREAT day!
