By order of the Lenoir County Fire Marshal, a burning ban has been issued in the area.

Due to extremely dry weather conditions and hazardous forest fire conditions, a ban was placed on Lenoir County as of 5 p.m. Thursday. There will be no burning permitted from all residential structures outward to 100 feet until the ban is lifted, which will remain in effect until fire danger conditions improve.

The use of outdoor grills is still allowed, but the grills must have a cover that can be placed over the coals once cooking is complete. Any type of open-flame activity for cooking purposes will not be permitted.
