NOTICE: The Kinston-Lenoir County Tourism Development Authority will accept 2019/20 Cycle I Special Events and Tourism Related Activities Committee (SETRAC) Grant

Public Notice – The Kinston-Lenoir County Tourism Development Authority will accept 2019/20 Cycle I Special Events and Tourism Related Activities Committee (SETRAC) Grant Applications at 301 North Queen Street, Kinston, NC 28501 until 12 noon, June 28, 2019.

The Special Events and Tourism Related Activities Committee (SETRAC) Grant Program is Administered by the Kinston/Lenoir County Tourism Development Authority/ Kinston/Lenoir County Convention & Visitors Bureau. SETRAC. Grants will be awarded during the Tuesday, July 16, 2019, Kinston/Lenoir County Tourism Development Authority Meeting, held at 3:00 pm in the Kinston/Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce Board Room at 301 North Queen Street.

The SETRAC Grant program exists to stimulate and assist Kinston-Lenoir County organizations and agencies in the enhancement, promotion and marketing of tourism and culturally related events and activities.

 The objective of the program is to give greater scope to innovative ideas and help organizations and agencies undertake activities that would not be considered without special funding.

Funding for the SETRAC program is authorized under NC House Bill 817 – Chapter 561 which states:

 The Authority may spend funds remitted to it under this subsection only to further the development of travel, tourism, and conventions in Kinston/Lenoir County through advertising and promotion, to sponsor tourist-oriented events and activities in Kinston/Lenoir County, and to finance tourist-related capital projects in Kinston/Lenoir County.

 Funding decisions are based on an applicant’s ability and intent to attract visitors and generate hotel/motel room nights from outside the immediate Kinston area. Financial grants are made in two Cycles during the fiscal year—one in July and one in January. Deadline for submission of application: Cycle I 2019/20 - 12 Noon, June 28, 2019 and Cycle II 2019/20 - 12 Noon, December 13, 2019, respectively.
