Gale S. Turner

NEWPORT - Gale Marie Smith Turner peacefully passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019. Gale was born in Lenoir County to Lafayette Smith and Marie Ewell Spears on February 9, 1952.
Gale was a devout Christian and enjoyed worshiping at Broad Creek Church of God in Newport. Eager to serve her Lord and her church in any way she could, Gale was the Treasurer at Broad Creek. She loved her church and church family dearly. Though she lived in Newport, her friends and family at Kinston First Pentecostal Holiness Church continued to hold a special place in her heart.
Gale and Cliff moved to Newport five years ago when the beach was calling their names. Gale loved the beach and the time that she and Cliff spent together there. She also had a creative flare and liked to crochet.
A service to celebrate and remember Gale’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, July 5, 2019, at Rouse Funeral Home, with Pastor Robbie Strickland officiating. Interment will be private at Westview Cemetery.
In addition to her parents, Gale is survived by her beloved husband, Cliff Turner; children, Heidi Jones and husband, Brian, and Paul Puckett, Jr. and wife, Kandice; grandchildren, Hunter Weeks, Hailey Weeks, Jared Puckett, Kristony Puckett, Kaden Puckett, Payzlei Puckett, and Laken Puckett; siblings Bobby Fate Smith and Herbert Adams Smith and wife, Brenda; sister-in-law, Treacy White and husband, Roger; and her canine companions, Daisy and Diggs.
Friends will be received in the hour before the service at the funeral home, and following the services at her daughter’s home. Friends are welcome to call at the homes of Cliff Turner and Heidi Jones. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gale’s honor to the Broad Creek Church of God Women’s Ministry, 394 Broad Creek Loop Rd, Newport, NC 28570.
