VOLLEYBALL

Bethel Christian sweeps Fellowship Christian

The Trojans took care of business to start a four-game homestand with a 25-16, 25-6, 25-11 victory over Fellowship Christian Monday.

Laura Fulcher had five service aces and four kills to lead Bethel Christian (2-1). Kelly Suggs and Jessi Dawson had four aces each and Ashley Vause provided three kills. The Trojans host Wilmington Christian tonight.

North Pitt defeats Greene Central

SNOW HILL — The Panthers got the better of the Rams Monday in a 25-22, 25-22, 23-25, 25-18 victory.

The Rams (3-4) were led by Madalyn Radford (nine kills, five service aces, three blocks), Abby Vendemia (eight kills, three aces) and Abby Burress (seven kills, four aces). The Rams have another nonconference opponent in Wilson Beddingfield on the road today before hosting South Lenoir Thursday.

South Lenoir defeats Neuse Charter

SMITHFIELD — The Blue Devils won their second straight game on the young season, defeating Neuse Charter 4-2 Monday.

Jonathan Rayo netted two goals for South Lenoir (2-1), with Jose Ortiz adding a goal and an assist, Luis Rodriguez scoring a goal, Steven Rodriguez contributing two assists and Hechun Zhang adding an assist. Both teams came alive offensively in the second half as the teams headed into the break scoreless.

The Blue Devils face North Duplin Wednesday on the road, hoping to get a second win against the Rebels. South Lenoir won the first matchup 2-1 on Sept. 3.

North Lenoir rolls past C.B. Aycock

PIKEVILLE — The Hawks scored more goals Monday in an 8-1 win over the Golden Falcons than in their previous games combined. North Lenoir (2-1-1) scored five games in its first three games, but rolled out to a 6-1 halftime lead against C.B. Aycock.

Taiwan Hines led the way with two goals and five assists for the Hawks, with Lionel Gomez scoring two goals and Frely Fuentez, Luis Cordova, Jerrin Howell and Justin Hernandez getting one each. Luis Henriquez provided two assists and Mathew Deanda added one while Orlando Gallardo recorded five saves in goal.

The Hawks play North Johnston at home Wednesday.

Fayetteville Academy takes out APA

FAYETTEVILLE — Arendell Parrott Academy fought hard, but couldn’t defeat the defending NCISAA 2A champions in Fayetteville Academy, falling 3-1 Monday.

Mateus Prado scored the lone goal for APA (4-4), whose matchup against Coastal Christian — originally slated for today — has been moved to Sept. 18.
