Reagan Perry selected as Park Scholarship finalist
Reagan Elizabeth Perry of Kinston has been selected as a finalist for the Park Scholarships program at NCSU. The scholarship is a four-year award that covers tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, travel, and personal expenses.
Reagan will graduate from Arendell Parrott Academy, where she is Senior Class President, President of the Honor Council, and a member of the Cum Laude Society. Reagan also played varsity tennis and varsity basketball and is a Presidential Service Award recipient. Ms. Perry plans to major in human biology. She is the daughter of Jim and Rebecca Perry.
Dr. Bert Bright, APA Headmaster shared these thoughts: “Reagan is a once in a lifetime student. She is tough, intelligent, compassionate, inquisitive and she is an incredibly ‘driven’ student. She has a unique combination of qualities and talents that will make her an ideal Park Scholar, and we are so very proud of her.”
The Park Scholarships Selection Committee, comprising approximately 290 NC State alumni and friends, conducted interviews with nearly 450 Semifinalists in early January. The Semifinalists were selected from 2,136 applicants. Of these, 112 candidates have been selected as Finalists for the Class of 2024, and they will compete for approximately 40 scholarships.
Finalists will visit the NC State campus on February 21-22 to participate in Final Selection Activities at the James B. Hunt Jr. Library. These activities include individual interviews, group discussion tasks, and panels with faculty and Park Scholars. Finalists and their guests / family also attend a reception and dinner with NC State Chancellor Randy Woodson and other university officials.
The Park Scholarships program, now in its 24th year, is named for the late Roy H. Park ‘31, an NC State alumnus who created the charitable Park Foundation, dedicated to education, media, and the environment.
