Electrolux and Lenoir/Greene United Way: Stocking kitchens with hope

An 18-wheeler truckload of kitchenware was given away through Stocking Kitchens with Hope at the Kinston Community Center for 21 area nonprofits supplied by Electrolux and distributed by Lenoir/Greene United Way.

“We are hosting a distribution event that was sponsored by Electrolux corporate. Electrolux called us and wanted to give a huge product donation to our community. We are helping do that today by distributing these materials out to 21 area nonprofit organizations,” said Molly Taylor, Executive Director of Lenoir/Greene United Way.

Electrolux donated over $150,000 worth of kitchenware ranging from pots, pans, and bakeware to cooking utensils as part of their commitment to giving back to the communities that are home to its factories and facilities.

“We’re here to enjoy the generosity of Electrolux who have made this opportunity available for us to get some items,” said Chris Jenkins, Executive Pastor of Hope Restoration. “Hopefully, we’ll get some much-needed kitchenware for our currently existing men’s transitional home, and for the women’s transitional home that we’re currently in the process of renovating.”

Local area nonprofits were able to come to the community center and shop for items that would benefit their programs aided by volunteers including Greene Lamp.

“We partnered with United Way of Lenoir and Greene County. Any time we have a chance to partner with them and help the families we serve. We are going to always be present,” said Miltia Grady-Wheatley of Greene Lamp. “Being able to give back to people this time of year, with everything that is going on, there was no way we were going to say no. You have got to be a part of something that is bigger than you.”
