From birthday parties to blood drives, the Kinston Community Center has hosted it all.
In addition to its sports and fitness facilities, the KCC also boasts a variety of spaces available for event rentals. KCC Executive Director Kelly Cannon said the center’s dedicated banquet room is often booked solid on weekends, but the KCC is open seven days a week.
“It’s a great space for gatherings up to 160 people, and our prices are very reasonable compared to other locations in the area,” Cannon said.
The banquet room often hosts wedding receptions, birthday parties, wedding and baby showers, and class reunions. It is also frequently used for corporate meetings and training sessions, Cannon said.
The rental includes setup and breakdown of tables and chairs and trash removal at no extra cost. Reservations also include access to the on-site catering kitchen for food preparation, Cannon said.
In addition to the main banquet room space, the KCC also offers a smaller, “CocoCabana” themed room for children’s birthday parties, adjacent to the center’s pool. Birthday party packages include two hours of access to the pool and party room.

Cannon said the KCC also offers flexible options to include both the banquet room and basketball courts for parties.
The reservation process is easy, with an online reservation request form available on the KCC website (here). After submitting the form, a reservation specialist will contact you to confirm availability and discuss details.
Room reservations are also available outside the normal operating hours of the KCC. The bottom line, Cannon said, is that they will do their best to create the perfect rental package for whatever event you have in mind.
Current members of the KCC get a twenty percent discount on room reservations as a benefit of membership.
Cannon said she takes the “community” part of the center’s name seriously.
“We kinda do it all here. We want to make sure the public is aware, whether you are a member or not, you can come work out here, you can come socialize here, and you can come have fun here,” Cannon said.
