Arendell Parrott Academy dancers and artists win state awards

Parrott Academy’s middle school dance troupe won the state championship in the North Carolina Association for Scholastic Activities state competition on February 15th among a field of seven schools. In addition to first-place finishes in the Jazz and Contemporary categories, Parrott dancer Haynes Lewis was recognized as the Outstanding Female Dancer among all middle school competitors at the event.
Parrott’s upper school dancers received a ranking of “superior” at the event and were named state runners up in student choreography, jazz, and contemporary. The upper school dancers received an overall second place in the state.
In the NCASA state art showcase, Parrott upper school students won an overall 3rd place ranking. Nastia Hnatov placed first in the state in mixed media, while Anna Avila and Tien Le received highest scores in the state for painting. Miles Hulka, Anna Avila, and Tien Le also won honorable mention awards.
Parrott’s middle school art team placed sixth in the state. Other team members included upper school students Jordan Riggs, Anna Haddad, Helen Remington, Landon Kearney, and Sofia Brantley and middle school students Sophia Akhler, Rebecca Bailey, Will Mullen, Quinn Miller, Jalyn Baysden, and Samuel Hearon-Isler.
