LENOIR COUNTY GOVERNMENT RECRUITMENT ANNOUNCEMENT PERMANENT/FULL-TIME HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR I

SALARY: $23,240 - $41,010

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: An employee in this class provides care and treatment necessary to maintain grounds of each drop-off site of the Lenoir County Landfill. The employee in this class performs routine grounds-keeping tasks such as mowing, edging, weeding, collecting trash and hauling to Landfill.

The employee in this class operates a variety of grounds-keeping/maintenance equipment such as a dump truck, backhoe, blower, mower, weeder, tiller, trencher, and related equipment. Skill and care are required in operating the equipment. The employee is subject to working in outside environments, extreme temperatures and weather, and is exposed to various hazards such as noise, vibration, moving mechanical parts, atmospheric conditions, and oils.

Work is supervised by the Landfill Director and is evaluated by observation and discussion. QUALIFICATIONS: Four months previous experience and/or training involving grounds-keeping maintenance preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
