A message from LCPS Superintendent Brent Williams
LCPS Superintendent Brent Williams stated in an email to parents this evening, “All of our schools will be open at least through tomorrow, Wednesday, March 18. If you still need to pick up personal items, books, iPads or other educational materials, please call or stop your child’s school tomorrow, if possible. We want all of our students to have access to these learning opportunities.
“Even though no online or remote educational opportunities can replace what an outstanding teacher does every day in the classroom, we believe that it is essential to provide these learning opportunities supported remotely with feedback and guidance provided daily by our teachers. Please know that specific grades will not be assigned for these learning opportunities and students will not face penalties for work that has not been completed. Instead, we will embrace the overall goal of providing an effective way for enrichment and student learning to continue. As our teachers begin the process of reaching out to students, posting work, and providing feedback and guidance, we are asking students and parents to use our learning management system and email as the primary means of communicating with teachers. As always, however, parents can call the main line of the school with questions and for assistance or guidance.
“Please remember our no-cost meal service each day from 10:30am -12:30pm to various school sites. We served over 900 students today a breakfast and lunch meal for a total of over 1,800 meals served. We would like to see even more young people--- students or anyone else age 18 and younger--- take advantage of this opportunity.
“Thank you again for your patience and cooperation as we all continue to work through this unprecedented crisis together.”
