LCC Horticulture Club completes scholarship endowment

The Lenoir Community College Horticulture Club, pictured, recently made a donation to the LCC Foundation to complete an endowment establishing a Horticulture Scholarship. 

It has been a long-standing tradition for the Horticulture Department to have an annual spring plant sale. The club members have been dedicated to putting aside a portion of the proceeds from the sale each year to establish the endowment and benefit future horticulturalists. The Spring Sale of 2019 put the endowment above the $15,000 mark and the first scholarship is scheduled to be awarded in the Fall of 2020. 

The club will continue to donate to this endowment with the hopes of being able to fund two scholarships a year in the future. The plant sale is held on Good Friday each year from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Kinston campus greenhouses. This year’s plant sale is April 10.
