UPS Store coming to Kinston in April
A UPS Store will open inside the MedSource Pharmacy on Vernon Avenue in Kinston to offer a variety of services to help small local businesses. The store is set to open on April 1, 2020.
Services available at the new store will include printing and document finishing, packing and shipping and mailbox services. Additional features will include computer rental time, notary services, shredding services, office supplies and fax services.
“We want to be Kinston’s small business resource center,” said Justin Ange, operations manager at MedSource Pharmacy. “Small businesses that have had to outsource their shipping and printing needs will no longer have to do so.”
Prior to the UPS store’s opening, UPS customers had to travel outside of the city to utilize these services. The UPS store was actively looking for a possibility to open a location in Kinston to address the gap they saw in their customer accessibility.
“People have been getting very excited when they come in and see the UPS sign,” said Mystie Turnage, pharmacy technician at MedSource Pharmacy.
The project has been in the works for a little over a year, and the construction has brought new questions as the UPS sign went up in the pharmacy. The new store will bring jobs to Kinston as they start out with a full-service location.
“The number one thing it will bring to Kinston is convenience," said Malissa Sutton. "No one will have to drive to Greenville or Goldsboro.”
Sutton has worked in UPS Store locations across North Carolina, focusing on different aspects of the operation that are going to benefit the new location’s non-traditional format. The team in place to operate the location has already gone through training with UPS. Turnage completed four weeks of intensive training at the UPS University in San Diego.
The addition of a UPS store with built-in foot traffic by having a store in a store will help grow both the UPS Store and MedSource Pharmacy by offering high-end large-scale printing services to small businesses. To let local businesses know they are opening, the team is doing company-to-company canvassing and sending letters and mass emails.
