Murphy Joins House Veterans’ Affairs Committee

Greenville, N.C. – On Tuesday, January 26, 2021, the House Republican Steering Committee announced Congressman Greg Murphy, M.D. (NC-03) will serve on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee during the 117th Congress. The Third Congressional District of North Carolina contains the third most veterans of any congressional district in the U.S. Murphy released the following statement: 

“It’s an honor to represent the 95,000 veterans who live in the Third District on the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee,” said Murphy. “Our veterans have selflessly served our great nation and deserve the benefits that their service has earned them. So I am especially thrilled to have another avenue to regularly advocate for the veterans in eastern North Carolina as well as the nation at large who have given so much for our country.” 

House Veterans’ Affairs Committee Ranking Member Mike Bost (IL-12) issued the following statement: 

“Making sure that veterans receive the quality care they need is one of the highest priorities of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee. I am excited that Dr. Murphy will be joining us this Congress to lend his considerable expertise to our work. He is an undeniable asset to North Carolinians and veterans everywhere,” said Bost. 

The Third District Military Advisory Committee, comprised of several high ranking retired Marine Corps officers, provided the following statement in support:

 “The real winners of Congressman Murphy’s assignment to the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee are the veterans and their families who live and work in the Third District,” said the Third District Military Advisory Committee. “Congressman Murphy has served his military constituents with distinction in the past and will continue to serve the many veterans and their families of the Third District in the future. Assignment to the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee will give Dr. Murphy a strong position from which to serve our veterans with the outstanding representation they deserve.”
