Reece Gardner: Let's talk politics

Let's talk politics, first on the State level (Georgia) and then on the national scene. In the Georgia election, which was held yesterday, it is reported that the GOP recruited over 8,000 volunteers to watch the polls in the counting of votes in the two races for the U.S. Senate.

As you know, during the Presidential election in November, many leaders, including President Trump, cited evidence of wrongdoing and irregularities in Georgia, as well as in several other states, with poll watchers being accused of mishandling counting of the votes, and with several videos emerging to verify their claims. But this time, state leaders offered assurances that they would have enough poll watchers, and that these poll watchers would have the authority to engage in poll watching in the manner prescribed by law. The goal should be to just make sure the elections are free from fraud. That's certainly not too much to ask and to expect.

Now, on the Presidential election, the 2020 Electoral College is being held today, so obviously the outcome of that procedure is not clear as of this moment. But certain happenings are likely to occur, such as Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) joining several other Congressional leaders in objecting to this 2020 Electoral College vote upon its presentation to Congress today. He is expected to state that he cannot vote to certify without pointing out that some states, particularly Pennsylvania, failed to follow their own state election law. He is also expected to point out the unprecedented efforts of mega corporations, such as Facebook & Twitter, to interfere in the election.

And speaking of Pennsylvania, there were 205,000 more votes counted than there were voters. To be fair, this revelation came about as a result of a study by the Pennsylvania Legislature. They could now proceed to recall the slate of Electors and have their House and Senate declare the election results invalid. This action could have a domino effect on the other embattled states (Wisconsin, Georgia, Arizona, Etc.) This may all be a bit farfetched, but such action could result in Trump's winning the Electoral College. In Wisconsin, the State Supreme Court has just made a ruling that may turn that state to Trump.

In the 2020 election, 215,000 people voted by mail, which is four times greater than in the last election, and several irregularities were cited. That Court has now overruled the State. Another twist in the scenario reveals that in the event neither candidate reaches the required 270 votes, the Twelfth Amendment to the Constitution declares that "The votes shall then be counted, and the person having the greatest number of votes for the President shall be the President.."

Now to close on a humorous note: After 35 years of marriage, a husband and wife come for counseling. When asked what the problem was, the husband went into a long tirade, listing every problem they had ever had: Neglect, Emptiness, Loneliness, Etc.

Finally, the counselor got up and asked the husband to stand. She then embraced him and kissed him passionately. The man became silent and quietly sat down as though in a daze. The counselor then turned to the wife and said, "This is what your husband needs, at least 3 times a week. Can you see to it?"

"Well," she said, "I can drop him off on Mondays and Wednesdays, but on Fridays I have my Book Club."

Have a GREAT day!
