Salary Range: $35,100 - $42,900
THIS IS A TIME-LIMITED POSITION WITH AN ESTIMATED DURATION OF 3 YEARS. The Social/Clinical Research Assistant will serve as Water Bottling Technician for the waterBEST study, a 5-year, community-based study evaluating potential dental health benefits of fluoridated bottle water in pre-school children. Duties will be performed at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry Field Center located in Kinston NC.
Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to: collecting and transporting bulk water supplies; packaging water into 5-gallon bottles; rigorous attention to safety and quality control in packaging water; attention to detail in managing inventory, including use of computer inventory control; delivering 5-gallon water bottles to study participants’ homes and collecting empty bottles; accurate recording of dispatch and return information using the study’s data management system. The appointee will meet with the Principal Investigator (PI), Project Manager and other members of the research team at least weekly to monitor study progress and any need for modification. Training to perform study-specific clinical procedures will be provided by the PI, and other members of the research study team.
There will be occasional travel to the study’s research offices at UNC Adams School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill NC. The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Pediatric and Public Health provides oral health care for individuals from infancy through adolescence, and promotes the prevention of oral disease. The Public Health discipline is a dynamic unit that offers educational programs including community rotations, a dental public health residency program, and an Oral Epidemiology PhD program. Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Knowledge of clinical trials methods, implementation monitoring and reporting. Proven organizational and communication skills. Expertise in designing specifications for data capture systems and relational databases. Proficiency with management of data systems created using relevant software such as Microsoft Access, SQL, REDCap and TeleformPrior.
Valid NC Driver’s License required Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Ability to lift and move 5-gallon bottles of water with or without accommodations for filling water bottles. Ability to drive heavy duty pickup truck with trailer.
