The following restaurant inspections were conducted by the Lenoir County Health Department:

Brighthouse Mart and Grill

5189 Hwy 55 W, Kinston

Date: 5/18

Score: 94

Observations:

No certified food protection manager present.

No hand towels provided in men's restroom.

Dishes were washed and rinsed, but not sanitized.

Cheese in prep unit, raw chicken, and burger patties were above 41F.

Hot dogs thawing on counter and ground beef thawing in sink.

Wet wiping cloth laying on counter and no sanitizer in wiping cloth bucket.



Kings Restaurant

Observations:

Employee spooned food into her hands with a utensil to taste.

Several employees did not wash hands when required.

Hand sink in kitchen did not have paper towels or other approved hand-drying device.

Shell stock tags not affixed to containers.

Ground meat held above intact meat in walk-ins.
Several food contact surfaces require additional cleaning.

Several foods temped above 41F.

Bottle of Windex stored beside napkins and clamshell containers.

Flies present in kitchen.

Employee tasted food from spoon with bare hands and some food fell from employees mouth.

Employees observed not wearing appropriate hair restraints.

Wet wiping cloths left lying around kitchen.

Several gaskets are in disrepair.

Non-food contact surfaces need additional cleaning.

Several areas of floor are damaged.

Employee drink and purse stored on food prep surface in oyster bar.

Sanitizer in dish machine was not proper strength.

Food temp. in walk-in were 44F-46F.

Stew in prep unit was made on 5/11.

Sanitizer in on wiping cloth bucket was not strong enough.

Fly spray stored on unused prep counter near steam well of chili.

Some flies in kitchen.

Several pans stacked together while wet.

Several non-food contact surfaces need additional cleaning.

Hand sink in front of kitchen and hand sink beside 3-comp sink do not have waste receptacles.

Dumpster door left open.
