Jack Elmore
July 22, 1939 – July 7, 2021
James Arthur “Jack” Elmore, 81, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021. Jack was born in Bucklesberry to the late Hardy Kinsey Elmore and Clara Belle Efird Elmore on July 22, 1939.
The outdoors brought Jack some of his happiest moments. This is where he felt closest to God. The sight of a trophy buck or a nibble on his fishing line were always sure to bring a smile to him. His skills were beyond compare, and there’s no doubt he could have lived right alongside of Daniel Boone. He looked forward to hunting trips, and he practically lived at Kerr Lake during the summer to fish.
Having an entrepreneurial spirit, Jack tried his hand at many business adventures and always found great success. Starting early in life as a farmer, he worked the land raising tobacco, corn, and soybeans for 14 years. He owned his own business in laying ceramic tile and worked many years in this profession. Later, he opened his own restaurant and bar in Lenoir County, and no doubt served the best spaghetti and ribs in town.
Jack’s personality could win someone over in a heartbeat. He had a jovial spirit that endeared him to all he met, and his standard of excellence was superior. He wanted to do the best at everything he did, and there was no compromise.
A service to remember Jack’s life will be held at Rouse Funeral Home on Sunday, July 11 at 3:00 p.m. Committal will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m.
Jack is survived by his children, Jim Elmore and wife Pamela and Brad Elmore and wife Jackie; grandchildren, April Elmore, Matthew Elmore and wife, Emily, Andrew Day and wife, Breanna, and Lily Elmore; great-grandchildren, Arielle Winn, Carissa Winn, Sterling Goff, Camryn Goff, Remy Elmore, Isla Elmore, Roslyn Day, and Whitley Day.
