New Head of School for Arendell Parrott Academy
As previously reported by Neuse News, Arendell Parrott Academy (APA) has a new Head of School. David Moody, former Assistant Superintendent in Jones County with 19 years of experience in education, took the time to share insights into his role.
“I am excited because I have not been in a school building, like working as a principal for several years,” said Moody. “I’m looking for that family bond, being around students, being around faculty and staff on a daily basis.”
Established in 1964, APA will begin its 57th year of classes and is one of the largest independent schools in the eastern North Carolina. Students travel from 10 different eastern North Carolina counties to make up the approximately 700 students at APA. Moody will manage an administrative staff of 16 and 70 teachers and staff.
“The very first thing is to establish relationships with the teachers obviously if it were not for the teachers Parrot would not be the academic institution that it is,” said Moody. “Meeting with them and seeing what the needs are, developing those relationships with the students.”
Moody values the support group from the parents. He believes that their support, as well as that of the alumni create more successes within the school.
“I’m really excited about this next chapter of my career. I’m ready to get started and put in the work to continue the tradition of Parrot Academy.”
APA is known for its academics as well as its fine arts program and its competitive athletic program.
