Help wanted: Lenoir County Government Emergency Management Division Fire Marshal
Salary Range: $42,006 - $63,918
The Lenoir County Fire Marshal's Division comprised of a Full Time Fire Marshal who performs technical and public safety work in relation to fire code enforcement, fire prevention, investigation of suspicious fires, training and serving as liaison with local fire departments, federal, state and county agencies in promoting overall fire prevention efforts within the county.
The position also requires the ability to assist in an emergency management role during day-to-day operations and during natural or man-made disasters. This position answers directly to the Emergency Services Director.
Minimum Qualifications: Requires an Associate’s Degree in Fire Prevention, Fire Science or related field and four- (4) years of combined experience in either fire inspections, fire investigations, fire prevention education, fire suppression, structural inspections or emergency management. Licensing and Certification: Must possess a North Carolina Fire Inspector Certification I, II, or III issued by the North Carolina Department of Insurance or the ability to obtain a level III within 48 months of employment. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience working for a municipality as a fire inspector and possess a North Carolina Standard Fire Inspector certificate.
• NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 is required; NIMS ICS 300, 400 preferred but not required. Must be able to obtain ICS 300, 400 within six- (6) months of employment.
• Possession of a North Carolina Firefighter 1 & 2 certification preferred. • North Carolina Hazardous Material Certification: Awareness and Operations Level preferred.
• Prefer certification as a Fire & Arson Investigator.
• Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
