Got Some Free Time? Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library Has You Covered
By Amelia Smith
This semester, I am taking a class about Economics and Personal Finance. I have learned that Economics plays a major role in my life’s choices because everything is tied to how money influences me and the decisions I make with money. We also talked about how society and government deals with economics, and most importantly, how it answers the three Economic questions.
What will be produced?
How will it be produced?
How will the output society produces be distributed?
When thinking about these topics in my Economics and Personal Finance class, I realize how much it impacts my daily life and is essential. They even play a role in a variety of programs that are being offered at the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library. Just think how much is spent on Boba ingredients, or how much was spent on the pizza and drinks for the Teen Advisory Council Meeting or even the electricity they use during these programs to use the microwave or the TV, or even the lights.
Many teens have loads of free time and don't know what to do with it and I want to encourage them to consider taking advantage of the economic opportunities available with the Kinston-Lenoir County Public Library programs. Some of the programs are that will be hosted this month include:
Teen Advisory Council Meeting
Art Club
Adulting 101
Anime Club
Teen Gaming Night
The Teen Advisory Council Meeting is open to all teens to come and share their ideas while eating yummy snacks and drinking delicious beverages. This month enjoy some pizza, drinks, and games while talking about some activities they would look forward to in the future.
Art club is an excellent opportunity for teens to show off their creativity and complete artistic challenges. This is an opportunity to practice learning how to draw digitally using the latest technology programs!
Adulting 101 is the perfect activity for teens that want to learn about basic adult needs. For example, those that may not always have time to cook something at home may like to learn more about cooking using a microwave. This month, participants will be making a mug cake.
Anime Club is where fellow anime lovers come together to talk about and watch their favorite anime. This month, watch an anime while learning to make some boba tea!
Teen Gaming Night is a splendid night for young gamers to come play and show off their gaming skills while making new friends and having a good time.
Sign-up is not required, and all equipment and materials will be available to use during the program. The only requirement is that students are between the ages of 13 and 18. Be sure to check out the flyer or find more information on the Neuse Regional Library Facebook Page.
