Help wanted: Lenoir Community College - Assistant Controller
Under the authority of the Controller, the Assistant Controller assists with oversight of the College’s accounting system and practices. Responsibilities include recording transactions, reporting financial data, and participating in a variety of projects that require significant financial expertise.
The duties of the Assistant Controller include, but are not limited to:
Prepare and update financial and statistical reports; gather and organize data used in the preparation of special reports; prepare reports as required
Prepare billings for various accounts; generate bills for various college contracts; establish accounts as necessary following established policies and procedures
Monitor various accounts to ensure compliance with state, local, and federal policies
Assist in preparation and oversight of budget
Provide assistance and training to other college employees as needed
Perform audits for various assigned areas and processes
Reconcile bank statements for assigned accounts
Prepare check requests, journal entries, and budget entries as needed
Other duties and projects as assigned by the Controller and/or Senior Vice President of Administrative Services/Chief Operating Officer
Qualifications
· Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution required; master's degree in related field is preferred
· Five years of relevant work experience
· Demonstrated knowledge of Governmental GAAP and GASB Standards preferred
· Ability to use tact, energy, and resourcefulness in dealing with a variety of situations and people
· Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
· Working knowledge of the Datatel Colleague system preferred
Working Conditions
· Typical office environment
· Frequently sitting at a desk or workstation using a telephone, computer, keyboard, and mouse; some standing and walking
· Evening and/or weekend hours as assigned
