Salary Range: $26,983.94 - $41,059.25

DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The primary purpose of this position is to provide general office assistance, computer support and administrative assistance to the Child Welfare Division.

KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: This position requires significant knowledge of office or work unit procedures, methods and practices and the ability to apply them in the analysis of information and in decision-making. This position requires significant knowledge of and ability to use correct grammar, vocabulary, spelling and office terminology to compose and/or proofread correspondence, reports and other materials. This position requires the ability to review and process information to determine conclusions, actions or compliance with applicable laws, rules or regulations. This position must have the ability to record, compile, summarize and perform basic analysis of data. This position must have the ability to independently work with people with courtesy and tact in performing public contact duties that may be sensitive in nature and answer inquiries independently and coordinate a variety of resources in acquiring information. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing and exercise judgment and discretion in problem situations. Must have good computer skills and a thorough knowledge of Word, Excel, Internet, and E-mail.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least three years of office assistant/secretarial experience; or completion of a two-year secretarial science or business administration program with one year of experience as described above; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
