Obituary: William Lyman Edwards, Jr.

William Lyman Edwards, Jr. 83, of Grifton, passed away on March 5, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Lyman was preceded in death by his parents, William Lyman Edwards, Sr. and Frances Hope Jackson.

He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He spent most of his time riding his tractor and performing tire service to help others. He was a retired manager in the automotive business.

Left to cherish his memory: daughter, Jimi Pass of Tennessee; son, William Lyman "Bill" Edwards, III of Fayetteville, NC; grandson, Emory Sweeney; sisters, Lana Gail Edwards and Vennie Lou Edwards, both of Grifton; niece, Melissa Harris of Grifton; nephews, Michael Harris (Jennifer) of Grifton, Wayne Harris of Point Harbor, NC; the love of his life, Brenda Scott Hodges of Fayetteville, NC; her children, Leigh Ann Fenn (Mark) of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Tara Hodges McCallman (George) of Fayetteville, NC; her grandchildren, Taylor McCallman (Blair), Jordan Fenn and Logan Fenn. Special thanks to family and friends and to Community Hospice for their care and concern.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Hospice, 115 Airport Rd, Kinston, NC 28501.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 P.M. at Howard-Carter Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Pastors Allen Ham and Mark Fenn will officiate.
