Regional Art Honors for Parrott Academy

First place honors in the Eastern Regional North Carolina Association for Scholastic Activities Art Showcase went to a team of Parrott Academy middle school artists. Competing against ten other regional schools, the Parrott students submitted art in 8 categories.

First place awards went to Alex Everson in Sculpture, Mary Grace Hamlett in Collage, and Gigi Johnson in Digital Media. Second place awards went to Mia Kendrick in Mixed Media, Parker Rose Overton in Photography, and Anatoli Hnatov in Drawing. Katy Ta and Cassie Eckberg also contributed to the team’s high score. 

The APA high school art team ranked second place in the Eastern Region out of 9 competing schools. First place awards went to Helen Remington in Digital Media, Tien Lee in Painting, and Landon Kearney in Printmaking. Second place awards went to Sofia Brantley in Sculpture and Nastia Hnatov in Mixed Media, with Ellen Jones getting third place in Collage. Jalyn Baysden and Teal Herlong works also helped secure the team’s overall second place. 

Parrott art teachers Jana Miller and Samantha Rouse look forward to their teams’ advancing to NCASA state competition on May 14th.
