Tanglewood church hosts community help events
On Saturday, September 24, 2022, over 150 members of the Tanglewood Church will launch out in twelve separate groups to serve the community in an outreach effort called THE BIG SERVE. There will be handymen taking care of the elderly by completing household or yard projects they simply can’t do on their own. We’ll have a crew at the North Carolina Veteran’s Home hosting Bingo and delivering a patriotic corn hole set and games for the residents. The Fueled by Faith Bible Study Group will be holding an Auto Shop Day to make much-needed car repairs at no cost for a family in need.
One of the larger Children’s Ministry teams will set up at Fairfield Park for a Kids Block Party that’s open to the public with free food, games, inflatables and more. There will also be a crew picking up litter to leave the park a little better than when they arrived. One team will spend their morning shopping and restocking the Hospitality Pantry to benefit family members of residents at Kitty Askins Hospice in Goldsboro. A group of ladies who love to do crafting will be painting and decorating beautiful wooden door wreaths for the residents of The Village of Kinston Nursing Home. There’s even an online option to provide wish list items to the Church of God Children’s Home in Concord. THE BIG SERVE is about putting faith into action. These are a few examples of the projects we’ll undertake with the hope of being a blessing to others.
It is our desire to be a church that positively impacts the community, whether or not those they serve ever choose to attend Tanglewood Church. Self-giving love with no strings attached. We believe our faith is most evident in how we love others. It’s our hope that other will experience the love of Jesus as we care the people of our community with dignity, respect and compassion. Our Mission Statement is “Reaching People & Changing Lives” and our desire is to do just that with THE BIG SERVE.
