Obituary: Earl Franklin Greene
Earl Franklin Greene Deep Run Earl Franklin Greene of Deep Run died peacefully on September 21, 2022, at the age of 100 surrounded by family and friends.
Earl was born on December 3, 1921, in Cypress Creek, NC to the late Simeon and Mabel Greene. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years, Annie Brown Greene, second wife of 28 years, Pearl T. Smith Greene; sisters: Iris Howard, Lillian Nobles, Mable Parker, Ida Mae Williams, and Dorothy Jarman; daughter Frankie Penny; and stepson Forrest Smith. Earl was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to all that knew him. He worked 37 years as a public servant on the Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base, Jacksonville NC, and farmed land in Jones County for decades following. He was known by his kind nature, dedication to caring for his family, fondness of sports, sharing fellowship with many at the Deep Run residence (Evergreen Place), and for a life of giving back to the community through a strong belief in teachings of Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Earl is survived by his sister, Hilda Grace Peck of Arkansas; daughter, Lucille (Virgil) Eubanks of Kinston; son, Timothy (Karen) Greene of Ennice; son-in-law, Thomas Penny (Frances) of Beulaville; step daughters: Cindy Scott and partner Wanda Marlowe of Grimesland, Debbie (Richard) Fauson of Kinston; stepson Gerald (Brenda) Smith of Deep Run; grandchildren: Joy Eubanks, Russ Eubanks, Christopher Penny, Ginger Noel, Scott Greene, Kari Ann Warren, Savannah Spencer; step grandchildren: Stephanie Bowers, Kristy Hill, Michelle Verhaeghe, Michael Smith, Bryan Smith, Hugh Benton III, Melanie Gaskins, Calvin Inman, Jake Inman, Matt Inman, Abbi Inman; numerous great grandchildren, step great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Pink Hill Funeral Home on September 24, 12:30 pm, followed by funeral service at 1:30 pm officiated by Pastor Dave Fishman.
Interment will follow at the Brown Family Cemetery (Hwy 41 ) immediately after the service.
