9/11 21st anniversary memorial service on Sunday

Due to pending inclement weather the event will be held at Kinston’s Fire Station Number One across from Grainger Stadium. Parking is available at the stadium parking lot. This marks the 21st year since the attacks on our Nation.

AMVETS Post 1111 in conjunction with Lenoir County Emergency Services and Greene Lamp will be holding the 21st Annual Kinston/Lenoir County 9/11 Memorial Service at Pearson Park. This year marks the twenty-first since the attacks impacted our Nation.

Schedule of Events:    5 pm- Activities for youths.

                                    6 pm- The Memorial Service begins

Incorporated into this year’s service, individuals who attend will be given a small American Flag. At the conclusion of the service, the flags will be placed together near the memorial in a sign of solidarity. Also, anyone who attends who would like to take 2-3 minutes to comment how 9/11 has affected them they will be afforded the opportunity.

Immediately following the service, there will be time for silent reflection and prayer at the park until 8 pm. In the event of rain, the service will be held at 6:15 pm at Kinston Fire Station One across from Grainger Stadium
