Obituary - Nathan “Sig” Grady

Nathan “Sig” Grady, 88, of Kinston, NC went home to be with his Lord on October 27, 2023.

A Funeral Service will be conducted Monday, October 30, 2023, at 3pm at Edwards Funeral Home, with Pastor Tim Daniel officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Sig proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict for four years. After his military service he came back home and took a job working at W.H. Jones and Evans Ford where he remained employed for six years. He then spent the next four years working as the manager of JC Penney Auto Center. Sig then went on to open his own auto garage that became a staple in Kinston, known as Grady Tire Company. He retired after 25 years. He was always active in church and served as a Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent, Deacon, and loved singing in the choir.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joyce Jackson Grady; daughters, Sheila Ann Wheeler and husband Terry, Stephanie Leigh Grady, Lynda Joyce Rackley and husband David, all of New Bern; grandchildren, Ashley Wheeler Laiche and husband Randy of Tennessee, Alex Wheeler and wife Jennifer of New Bern, and Chelsea Rackley of Tennessee; great grandchildren, Raylan Patrick Laiche of Tennessee, and Lillian Grace Wheeler of New Bern. He is also survived by his brother, Bobby Grady of Kinston and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alex (Wardie) and Susan Ann (Sudie) Grady of Kinston, brother Alex Grady Jr. of Deep Run, sister Nadine Davis of Fayetteville.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to New Testament Baptist Church, 126 Neuse Road, Kinston NC 28501.
