This is a replacement position for a retirement.

On-boarding to be coordinated so that is adequate time to transfer knowledge by working with the current incumbent.

The Administrative Assistant serves the President/CEO by managing the daily office routine. They serve the Board of Directors as Assistant Secretary and as coordinator of all Board functions. They serve the patients and community by making sure the administrative offices are run efficiently and effectively. 

This individual works independently and carries through to completion specific work projects assigned by the Hospital President relative to the operation of the total hospital.

Education: 

  • Two years of hospital-approved college work or a minimum of five years of hospital clerical supervision.  Completion of a course in office supervision or management technique is preferred. 

Experience

  • A minimum of five years of related professional experience. 

Licensure/Registration/Certification: 

  • Notary Public License for the State of North Carolina (or willingness to obtain) 

Other Skills and Qualifications:  

  • Knowledge of standard office equipment. 

  • Verbal ability to communicate with hospital personnel, physicians, Board of Directors, and outside personnel.  Numerical ability to assemble data. 

  • Tact and diplomacy in representing the hospital’s management to the public, hospital patients, and employees.  Initiative to perform duties without close supervision. 

  • Ability to record and transcribe minutes. 

Working Environment: 

  • Occasionally subject to irregular hours. 

  • Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. 

  • Subject to many interruptions. 

  • Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Work is sedentary, consisting of sitting and/ or walking throughout most of the day.  Accurate visual perception is necessary to perform daily tasks. 

  • Hearing and speech are required for frequent communication with staff and others. 

  • Motor coordination and finger dexterity are prerequisites for operating office machines and computer.
