Obituary: Hettie “Grace” Davis Hill

Hettie “Grace” Davis Hill, 93, of Kinston, passed away peacefully Friday, December 1, 2023, at home.

A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 1pm at Pinelawn Memorial Park.

Grace was born to Luther and Omie Byrd Davis on December 25, 1929. She grew up in Duplin County and moved to Kinston after she married the love of her life, Leslie Hill. They were married for 50 years and raised their three children together. She loved her family immensely. Grace enjoyed spending time outdoors and you would often find her working in her flower bed. She was well known for her nightly check-up calls. She would call just to say goodnight and I love you.

Grace is survived by her daughter, Jean Hill Jones of Kinston; son, Leslie Keith Hill and wife, Renne' of Seven Springs; brother, Luther Davis, Jr. of Wallace; six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. Grace is also survived by many special nieces and nephews; and a special friend that she considered a sister, Emma Tillman.

In addition to her parents, Grace is preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Hill; daughter, Kaye Hill Smith; and her granddaughter, Shannon Young. She is also preceded in death by her two brothers and seven sisters.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Amedisys Hospice for their loving care, dedicated service, and kind words during this difficult time.
