LCSO: Home burglar caught in the act, arrested
A Lenoir County man was arrested early Sunday morning while in the process of robbing a home in Grifton.
Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a crime in progress at a home on the 3700 block of Hugo Road in Grifton Sunday morning. The suspect of the crime(s), Matthew Tatum Allen, 34, of Grifton was taken into custody on the scene.
The LCSO investigation revealed that Allen broke into the residence around 5:45 a.m. and was caught at the location with a trailer loaded with property belonging to the victim. During the investigation of the burglary, deputies recovered property that was also taken from the home on Thursday, April 27, in locations Allen allegedly stashed the items.
Allen was arrested and received the following charges:
· Two counts of second degree burglary
· Two counts of possession of stolen property
· Felony count of obstructing justice
· Possession of burglary tools
· Misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia
Allen was placed in the Lenoir County Jail under a secured bond.
