Winners of the 42nd annual Wil King Hog Happenin’ whole hog cooking competition

The annual BBQ Fest on the Neuse announced its barbecue and sauce winners on Saturday. The categories include Sauce Boss, Natural Source, Backyard, and Professional. The winners each won prize money and cutting boards.

In the Sauce Boss category, Andy Harrison of Mr. Curley’s Que Crew sponsored by State Farm Insurance: Judy Jones, Keith Thompson, and Will Hardy tied for first alongside Matt Jones of 392 BBQ sponsored by LKQ East Carolina. They won $300. 

In the Natural Source category, Mark Woolard of Millhole BBQ sponsored by Rob Bizelle won first with a $300 prize.

In the Backyard category, Julie Woolard of Choo Choo Que Cooking Team sponsored by the Beauty Box took third place and won $150. In second place, Susan Harper of Pork Stars sponsored by Pitt County Triple P won $200. Kenneth Clark of Backyard Bubba sponsored by the Lenoir County Chamber of Commerce took first place and won $300. 

In the Professional category, David Grandy of Lazy Daze sponsored by East Coast Power and Lighting took fourth place and won $100. In third place, Mark Woolard of Millhole BBQ sponsored by Rob Bizelle won $200. In second place Andy Harrison of Mr. Curley’s Que Crew sponsored by State Farm Insurance: Judy Jones, Keith Thompson, and Will Hardy won $300. Billy Narron of Wicked Pig sponsored by Neuse News took first place and won $500.
