Observations: 

Lacks food manager certification. 

Employees lack employee health policy knowledge. 

Establishment lacks vomit and diarrhea plan. 

Employees lack beard restraints. 

Pans stored under front desk visibly soiled. 

Mop sink outside lacking back flow prevention device.

Establishment lacks vomit and diarrhea plan. 

Grate, pizza/wing pans, and blue lids visibly soiled and to the touch.

Bracelets and ineffective hair and beard restraints observed.

Handle of scoop in corn meal. 

Pans stacked wet. 

Toilet bowel unclean. 

Receptacle top door open. 

Toilet unable to flush.

Employees observed changing tasks with no hand washing. 

Display cooler temping between 42-44F. 

Employee observed without hair restraint. 

Knife storage rack hung on dirty side of 3-comp sink. 

Bases of toilets in men's and women's restroom visibly soiled as well as toilet bowls. 

Air vents visibly dusty. 


Piggly Wiggly Deli

Observations: 

Wings temped at 103-107F in hot holding unit. 

Items on salad bar and in cold display above 41F. 

Wet wiping cloths observed handing on hand washing sink and on prep table out of sanitizer solution. 

Hot hold cabinet in kitchen gaskets still held together by duct tape. 

Interior and exterior of all hot hold units, fryers, and ovens, walk-in shelving, rotisserie unit interior, dry dishes racks and shelving under prep areas visibly soiled/dusty. 

Bases of toilets in men's and women's restroom visibly soiled as well as toilet bowls. 

Floors in kitchen under equipment, ceilings and walls by/behind fryer and oven units visibly soiled. 

Waffle House 

601 E New Bern Road, Kinston

Observations:

Establishment lacks vomit and diarrhea plan.

Grit residue visibly stuck to internal base of pan. 

Lettuce and milk in reach ins lacking date mark. 

Raw shell eggs and cut lettuce as well as other stored foods in 4-door exposed to fridge internal leak. 

Pans stacked wet in storage cabinet. Utensils stored wet in drawer. 

Cabinets, storage shelves throughout, shelving inside refrigeration, condiment packet holders, storage drawers, and handles/external crevices of saute pans visibly soiled. 

Ceiling tiles observed missing or out of place. 


Byrd's Restaurant 

196 Hwy 58S, Kinston 

Date: 4/25

Score: 98.5

Observations: 

BBQ was stored in a deep pan in walk in. 

Food service staff shall not wear bracelets or rings other that pain bands. 

Wet wiping cloth solution was too strong and cloths were left on counter. 

Some floor tiles are broken. 

Rainbow Pizza & Subs

Observations: 

No certified food protection manager present. 

No soap in either bathroom. 

Rice and cooked steak and chicken just sitting on counters. 

Nothing was date marked. 

Sanitizer bottle not labeled. 

No sanitizer was made to store wet wiping cloths in. 

Duct tape holding inner lining of prep top. 

Sink basins, drain boards and under dish drainer, grill area and tables, fridge handles, hood and filters observed to be greasy/soiled. 

Dumpster lids both open. 

Ziggy Dogs

401 S Queen Street, Kinston

Observations: 

Lacks food manager certification. 

Employee health policy missing food borne illness. 

Establishment lacks vomit and diarrhea plan.

Handle of scoops in cheese. 

Dry storage racks sticky to the touch. 

Unused equipment by 3-comp sink. 

Light in storage area in 1 FC. Should be 10 FC.
