Arrest made in road rage incident involving firearms, multiple charges filed

KPD Officers responded to a report of a road rage incident involving firearms. Officers initiated a traffic stop with Dechawn Edwards (31, Wilson, NC). Edwards refused to cooperate with the officers and drove off. Officers pursued Edwards until he came to a stop. Officers advised Edwards he was under arrest for fleeing. As Officers attempted to take Edwards into custody and he began assaulting them. After officers were able to secure Edwards, a search was completed. Officers located a concealed firearm in his vehicle. Edwards was charged with the following and placed in the LC Jail under a secured bond:
- Flee elude with a motor vehicle
- Felony assault on Law Enforcement (3 counts)
- Resisting arrest (3 counts)
- Assault with a deadly weapon
- Carrying Concealed Gun
- Damage to Personal Property
In addition, unrelated warrants for Felony Flee Elude and Probation Violations were served on Edwards.
