District Cost Share Technician - Entry Salary: $33,095

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs technical work in the delivery and coordination of federal and state programs focused on addressing resource concerns and enhancing soil and water quality in the County, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Soil & Water Director.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: A knowledge of the practices and principles of natural resource conservation and management. A knowledge of practices and principles of bench level surveys, note keeping and drafting. Skill in the use of surveying, drafting and computer equipment. An ability to recognize soil types and to determine its capabilities or limitations for various uses. An ability to interpret land uses and features on a variety of aerial photographs and maps. An ability to establish and maintain records, organize materials, and coordinate paperwork. An ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with landowners, agricultural producers, general public, and departmental employees. The ability to perform rigorous outdoor work in various types of weather.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Graduation from high school or vocational/technical school with major course work in agriculture. 1 to 2 years’ experience in agricultural work or practices or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have the ability to perform computer operations and capable of utilizing survey and engineering equipment in the performance of duties. Must be able to complete physical work in the completion of fieldwork. Conducts a variety of work indoors and outdoors in a variation of conditions such as heat, cold, humidity and wetness. Must be able to work under a high degree of stress related to duties that require a quick response in dangerous situations. Must be able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
