Greene County 4H holds Summer Camps
Snow Hill – Greene County 4-H hosted several day camps this summer all free to Greene County Public School Students featuring everything from Tennis to Fishing to being down on the farm.
In cooperation with Greene Ridge Racquet Club, the 4H hosted Introduction to Tennis camps; one camp for ages 5-10 and one for ages 11-18. Students learned from local tennis heroes about the game of tennis and the basics of playing the game.
The Extension also hosted two fishing camps in conjunction with Samantha Gay of Fishers of Kids Angler Academy, one for ages 5-7 and one for ages 8-18. The kids learned basic fishing techniques and got the opportunity to fish for a variety of species. Each youth got their own rod and reel to take home with them.
From June 20th-22nd Greene County 4-H hosted a 3-day camp called Wild Wilderness, youth ages 9-13 learned all about animals, and ecosystems, and learned how to kayak. And rounding out their summer with a 3 day Camp called Down on the Farm youth ages 9-13 got to learn about different livestock operations in Eastern NC and the important role they play in our economy and livelihood.
Carly Taylor, Greene County 4-H Agent shared, "We were so pleased with the turnout for our 4-H summer camps and the success of our partnership with the Greene County School District. All the youth that attended learned a lot about a large variety of subjects all while having an amazing time. We already are looking forward to next summer and expanding on the options offered for 4-H camps in Greene County."
