Snow HIll – Greene County Schools hosted the 9th Annual STEM Expo on Thursday, April 25. This year the Expo was a multi-site experience with STEM students from Greene Central, GCMS, and GEC leading stations and sharing their creations. Students from West Greene, Snow Hill Primary, and Greene County Intermediate got a first-hand experience of what STEM looks and feels like later in their school career.
Greene County Schools took part in the North Carolina Science Festival. The Science Festival is a month-long state-wide series of events that are coordinated and promoted by the Morehead Planetarium and Science Center in Chapel Hill. Events were also sponsored by Duke Energy and several other community partners.
On Friday, April 19, Greene County Schools named Ms. Joanne Duncan as the 2024-2025 Teacher of the Year. Ms. Duncan teaches Culinary Arts at Greene Central High School. She was wonderfully surprised and brought to tears with the news during an event her students were catering for the Greene County School Board of Education and Greene Central High School student leaders.
Greene County Schools is celebrating a significant milestone as they move closer to completing the construction of a new Greene Central High School. The district announced Tuesday they are the recipients of a $12 million supplemental grant, bringing them one step closer to realizing their vision for the state-of-the-art educational facility.

Greene County 4-H hosted several day camps this summer all free to Greene County Public School Students featuring everything from Tennis to Fishing to being down on the farm.
Last week, the Greene County Sheriff's Office along with Snow Hill Police Department completed its annual Active Shooter training at Greene County Middle School.
Greene County Schools held an Aviation and Aerospace camp for Academically and/or Intellectually Gifted rising 4th and 5th-grade students from July 10th to 12th. The camp, organized in partnership with community members and organizations, provided an array of enriching experiences.
Greene County Schools Career and Technical Education program sponsored multiple summer camps for students in Middle and High School. All of the camps were led by different CTE Teachers and featured everything from Culinary to Robotics to Agriculture to Medical Sciences.
A few Greene County Schools will look different this upcoming school year with new personnel in administrative roles. The changes were approved at the Greene County Board of Education meeting on Monday, July 24, 2023.
Snow Hill - Throughout this summer students from Greene County Schools have been busy with summer learning and experiencing everything from Legos to white water rafting to cooking and robotics. Teachers and administrators have worked to build amazing experiences for students from all grade levels.
