Lenoir/Greene United Way announces 2024 Investment Awards

Lenoir/Greene United Way is pleased to announce their investment awards for 2024.  The longstanding nonprofit organization is focused on supporting local programs that deliver measurable impact and outcomes in the areas of education, health and financial sustainability.  The 2024 grant awards, totaling close to $200,000 are made possible by the United Way’s community campaign, individual donors and fundraising events.  

2024 Community Impact Awards

First Presbyterian Church “Backpack Buddies” program – identifies and delivers packaged backpacks with food to local school children in need.

Greene County Interfaith – food pantry and disaster relief organization serving Greene County that provides both pick-up and delivery services for individuals facing food insecurity as well as essential needs.

Habitat for Humanity – Affordable housing and home ownership program with grant award to support roofing needs for homes built in Lenoir County.

ICOR – Program support for individuals seeking food, rental or utility assistance.

Kinston Area Recovery Efforts (KARE) – Program support for prevention education and preparation for future local disasters, such as hurricanes and flooding.

Raising Awareness for the Developmentally Disabled (RADD) – Program support for individuals with developmental disabilities.

2024 United Way Partner Awards

American Red Cross – program support for home fires in Lenoir and Greene Counties.

Boys and Girls Club of Greene County – program support for after-school education.

Boys and Girls Club of Lenoir County – program support for after-school education.

Boy Scouts – program support to for school kits for minority Scout Reach program.

Friends of the Homeless Shelter – program support for homeless shelter.

Greene County Senior Center – program support for Ensure nutritional supplement for senior population.

Greene Lamp – program support for essential needs and services including food, rental and utility assistance.

Hope Restorations – program support for transitional housing programs for men and women in recovery.

Lenoir County Council on Aging – program support for ramp construction for senior population.

Mary’s Kitchen – program support for hot meals provided daily to those in need.

SAFE – program support for domestic violence shelter and education for individuals facing domestic abuse.
