As a member of Emergency Services with Lenoir County Government, you can make a difference! The Emergency Medical Services Division is seeking candidates for an EMS Battalion Chief. Candidates supervise and perform technical work directing the activities of emergency medical services on an assigned shift. Work involves identifying staffing and materials needed for daily operations, and providing direct medical services in emergency situations.

The employee is responsible for making critical decision with regards to what units are to be placed in service and prioritizing calls in high call volume situations. Work involves frequent public contacts and considerable independent initiative and judgement. The employee is subject to hazards in the emergency management and emergency medical field including working in both inside and outside environmental conditions, hazardous fumes, dusts, odors, mists, and gases. Work may expose the employee to human blood or body fluids and thus the job is subject to OSHA requirements on blood borne pathogens. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the EMS Division Chief.

Minimum Requirements:

• Associates Degree with coursework in emergency medical services, or related field with 1-2 years of active supervisory experience in a related field which provides the required knowledge and ability.

• Credentialed by the North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services as a Paramedic for a minimum of 2 years and an employee of Lenoir County EMS for a minimum of 3 years.

• Completion of specialty courses as required for their credential

• Prior QRV and RSI/DAI Paramedic experience.

• Completion of ICS 100, 200, 700, 800 and additionally ICS 300, 400 or the ability to obtain within one year of appointment.

• Possession of NC driver’s license.

Salary Range: $49,129.25 – $71,153.80
