As a member of Emergency Services with Lenoir County Government, you can make a difference! The Emergency Medical Services Division is seeking candidates for an EMS Captain. Candidates are responsible for providing patient care at the Paramedic level on a quick response vehicle and/or ambulance and directs the activities of emergency medical services responders on an assigned shift. Work involves providing clinical and operational support for shift staff and acting as a relief supervisor in the absence of a shift Battalion Chief. This position frequently interacts with public contacts and must demonstrate considerable independent initiative, judgment, and tact. This position is subject to standard hazards related to emergency medical response to include austere environmental conditions, fumes, dust, odors, mists, gases, and blood borne pathogens.

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum two years of full-time experience as a paramedic in a busy 911 EMS response system.

• Possession of an active, unrestricted North Carolina Office of EMS Paramedic credential.

• Possession of a valid North Carolina driver’s license.

• NIMS ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800

• NIMS ICS 300 and 400 (or ability to obtain within one year of hire)

• Must be fingerprinted, pass state/federal criminal background checks, and pass drug screening.

• Equivalent combination of education, certifications and experience may be considered in meeting requirements at the discretion of the Emergency Service Director.
