Fans clash with security at Arendell Parrott Academy basketball game
Following the conclusion of Tuesday night’s boys’ varsity basketball game at Arendell Parrott Academy between APA and visiting John Paul II Catholic High School from Greenville, there was an altercation between some fans and APA’s security staff.
An off-duty deputy was present and assisted in bringing order to the incident with the assistance of on-duty deputies, who were summoned to the school.
APA’s director of safety and security is a part-time deputy for the LCSO; he is also a 20-year veteran of the Kinston Police Department.
No individuals have yet been taken into custody or charged; the LCSO and APA security staff are reviewing video footage from APA surveillance cameras, as well as from spectator video. The APA director of safety and security will be seeking to press charges in this incident, if applicable.
