The following restaurant inspections were conducted by the Lenoir County Health Department:

The Corner Deli

Score: 97.5

Observations:

Employee did not wash hands when required.

Employee was observed turning faucet off with bare hands.

Employee was observed using gloves for more than one task.

Wiping cloths were being stored in containers with 0 ppm.

Observed baseboards falling off walks through out food prep areas.

Walls and floors need additional cleaning around equipment wheels, under equipment on cook line and prep area, and walls behind cook line tables.

Employee had bracelet when working/handling food.

Observed wet wiping cloth on the counter next to microwaves.

Observed torn gasket on 3-door reach in and on the pizza prep unit.

Rusted shelves in the 3-door refrigeration unit.

Can opener is not ANSI certified.

Observations:

No certified food protection manager.

No hand washing signs above the sinks in the food prep areas.

The inside of the ice machine has build-up, needs to be cleaned.

Nozzles on soda machine have black build-up.

No employees working at the time knew how to calibrate thermometer.

A few flies and live roaches in the establishment.

Plastic spoons were being used in the ice cream topping cold holding unit.

Flip top of right True 1 door fridge is off the hinges.

Prep fridge to the left of the cook top is not working.

Shelving within refrigeration soiled and some have signs of rust.

Dust/grease buildup observed on ceiling above cook line, walls behind equipment, throughout prep and storage area, and within men's bathroom, light shields, vents and tiles.

Ceiling leaks throughout.

Chipped floor tile on cook line and back prep area.

Mop was in the wringer portion of the mop bucket and another mop was laid out over the can wash.

Light shielding missing under units on cook line.

Coats hung up on the bread storage shelving by back door.
