Convicted felon behind bars after motor vehicle stop

A convicted felon is behind bars after a motor vehicle stop by members of the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office’s Crash Reduction Team (CRT).

William Locklear, 39, of Kinston was stopped by the CRT Monday for registration violations. During the stop, CRT members — along with assistance from the Street Crimes and Ready Response (SCARR) unit and B-shift personnel — conducted a probable cause search on the vehicle and a concealed firearm was discovered.

Locklear, a convicted felon, was arrested by SCARR detectives and charged with felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was also issued citations for registration violations and the concealed firearm. He was booked into the Lenoir County Jail under no bond due to being on pre-trial release for other charges.
