BBQ Fest of the Neuse anticipates record attendance and excitement

With the annual BBQ Fest on the Neuse just around the corner, anticipation and excitement are at an all-time high as organizers prepare for what promises to be the biggest festival yet. Tammy Kelly, a board member of the festival committee, expressed enthusiasm about this year's event, noting, "I’m excited. I think the excitement is bigger than it's ever been leading up to the festival." This sentiment is echoed by Waylon Adams, the festival's Board Chair, who shared, "Biggest festival ever with a huge crowd expected both Friday and Saturday, and awesome weather predicted.”

This year's festival, scheduled for May 3rd and 4th in downtown Kinston, is set to draw in a significant number of attendees, raising both excitement and a touch of nervousness among organizers. "I think we are all a little nervous because we have so many people coming to town," Kelly remarked. Adams emphasized the scale of the event, highlighting key attractions such as the performance by country artist Joe Nichols on Friday night and the return of a larger and improved carnival.

One notable aspect of this year's festival is the inclusion of new vendors, adding a fresh dynamic to the festival atmosphere. Kelly emphasized, "I think it's cool we have vendors that have never been in the BBQ Fest before." The festival's expansion and diversity of offerings reflect the growing interest and engagement from the local community.

In addition to the carnival and live performances, the festival will feature an array of activities and attractions spread across multiple stages and areas. The carnival kicks off on Thursday, May 2nd, providing early excitement for attendees before the official start of the festival on Friday.

"We are very appreciative of all of our sponsors," Adams noted, acknowledging the crucial support of organizations like the NC Railroad Company and Lenoir Community College. “LCC is a long time partner with the festival along with UNC Health Lenoir and White & Allen.”

The festival's schedule is packed with entertainment, including live music from Joe Nichols and others, dance performances, arts markets, and special dining events, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy. From classic car displays to helicopter rides and interactive games, the BBQ Fest on the Neuse promises a weekend of fun and celebration for the whole family.

As the festival approaches, excitement continues to build among organizers and attendees alike. With a robust lineup of activities and attractions, this year's BBQ Fest on the Neuse is poised to be a landmark event in the festival's history.
